Sixth Sense is an Uncommon Effect Joker that will provide the player with Spectral Cards, as long as it is fed with a 6 as the only played card in the first hand of a round. It activates after all scoring is completed and therefore still works if the 6 is debuffed, and does not get influenced by retriggers. It does not activate if the hand is not allowed under the current Boss Blind (e.g. The Psychic).

Sixth Sense cannot give the Spectral Cards The Soul or Black Hole, as both can only be found in Booster Packs.

Strategy

As Sixth Sense requires having 6s in the deck to activate, it has limited use as the player will likely destroy all 6s in the Deck before reaching Ante 8. However, this is usually ideal, as 6s do not have any particularly strong synergies with other Jokers, and the Spectral Card given may help further enhance the player's deck and hasten the Deck manipulation process. In general, Spectral Cards to look out for are:

  • Any of the Seal-adding Cards.
    • Deja Vu, Trance, Medium, and Talisman.
  • Aura for farming the Polychrome Edition.
  • Cryptid to make copies of a useful card, which can be used in conjunction with the above Spectral Cards.
  • Immolate to further hasten Deck manipulation and for a boost in Money.
  • Ectoplasm for when the player has their final Joker lineup.

Any other Spectral Card is still worth keeping so as to prevent it from appearing in the shop, either from a Spectral Booster Pack or from playing on the Ghost Deck, as they are either too niche or hard to make use of. In the event that the player finds Sixth Sense in the Shop but the Deck contains no or few 6s, it could be beneficial to open Standard Card Packs to directly add 6s for later destruction.

Synergies

  • Red Deck gives +1 Discard which makes it easier to find a 6.
  • Blue Deck gives +1 Hand which allows the player more freedom to utilize Sixth Sense, as there are more remaining Hands to defeat the Blind.
  • Abandoned Deck and Mad World increase the chance to draw a 6 as they have less overall cards.
  • Erratic Deck has a chance to provide more 6s to destroy, increasing Sixth Sense's value.
  • High Card is the only poker hand directly relevant to Sixth Sense.
  • Perkeo can copy any Spectral Card created by Sixth Sense.
  • DNA can create copies of playing cards, allowing the player to infinitely farm Spectral Cards as long as the Deck contains at least one 6.
  • Erosion will also scale after Sixth Sense destroys 6s.
  • Strength can be used to turn 5s (and possibly 4s) into 6s to be destroyed and converted into Spectral cards. This also helps remove cards in order to shape the deck.
  • Death can turn some cards into 6s to be destroyed and converted into Spectral cards.
  • Grabber and Nacho Tong both give additional hands to play, which can be used to trigger Sixth Sense with fewer consequences.
  • Wasteful and Recyclomancy both give additional discards, which can help in finding 6s.
  • Any blind that disables cards in deck (like The Club, The Pillar, etc.) will not prevent Sixth Sense from triggering.

Anti-Synergies

Decks

  • Black Deck, Blast Off, and Golden Needle all reduce the number of hands to play, which can discourage using Sixth Sense while a player's hands aren't strong enough.

Jokers

  • Obtaining a second copy of Sixth Sense does not stack with itself, creating only 1 Spectral Card when destroying 6s.
  • The Psychic forces the player to play a 5-card hand, meaning Sixth Sense cannot activate.
  • The Needle sets the player's hands to 1. Therefore, to still benefit from Sixth Sense, the player would have to beat the blind with nothing but a single High Card.
  • The Mouth only allows 1 hand type, so unless players build around High Cards, they must play a winning hand type first, missing Sixth Sense's effect.
  • On Blue Stake difficulty or higher, there is a -1 Discard penalty which can make it harder to find a 6.

Trivia

  • A sixth sense, also known as extrasensory perception, is the power of perception beyond the five senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell, or taste.
  • In early demo versions, the effect of Sixth Sense was "Each played 6 permanently gains +6 Chips when scored". This is changed in later versions.
