Smeared Joker is an Uncommon Effect Joker which makes  Diamonds and  Hearts count as the same suit, and  Clubs and  Spades count as the same suit. This effect applies to all Jokers and Blinds which have an effect based on suit.

To unlock this Joker, the player must have at least 3 Wild Cards (Can be used as any suit Wild Card.png) in the deck.

• Black Deck ( {{hl|orange|+1}} Joker slot <br> {{hl|blue|-1}} hand every round Discover at least {{hl|orange|100}} items from your [[collection]] Black Deck.png): The +1 Joker Slot allows Smeared Joker to function as a utility Joker while still providing space for 5 other Jokers to score.
• Checkered Deck ( Start run with {{hl|orange|26}} {{suit|Spades}} and {{hl|orange|26}} {{suit|Hearts}} in deck Win a run with the {{D|Black}} on any difficulty Checkered Deck.png) is split between two suits that do not combine due to the Smeared Joker, so it loses out on some benefits. However, it allows the deck to benefit from effects that involve  Clubs and  Diamonds, including very powerful Jokers like Ancient Joker (Each played card with [[Card Suits|{{hl|orange|[suit]}}]] gives {{xmult|1.5}} when scored, <br> <small>suit changes at end of round</small> Rare Multiplicative Mult On Scored Ancient Joker.png), so it can still be quite valuable.

• Painted Deck ( {{hl|orange|+2}} hand size, <br> {{hl|red|-1}} Joker slot Win a run with any [[Decks|deck]] on the {{Stake|Green}} difficulty or harder Painted Deck.png)'s hand size of 10 guarantees a Flush with Smeared Joker and no Stone Cards ({{chips|+50}}<br>no rank or suit Stone Card.png). However, with Painted Deck's fewer Joker slots, keeping effect Jokers like Smeared Joker can be risky.

Works best with the following hands if you are trying to go for a flush build.

• Straight Flush
• Flush House

Generally, any Joker that takes effect upon cards of certain suits will benefit from Smeared Joker, by activating on more cards, including:

• Lusty Joker (Played cards with {{Suit|Heart}} suit give {{Mult|+3}} when scored Common Additive Mult On Scored Lusty Joker.png) and Greedy Joker (Played cards with {{Suit|Diamond}} suit give {{Mult|+3}} when scored Common Additive Mult On Scored Greedy Joker.png) - Each  Diamond or  Heart provides +3 Mult.
• Wrathful Joker (Played cards with {{Suit|Spade}} suit give {{Mult|+3}} when scored Common Additive Mult On Scored Wrathful Joker.png) and Gluttonous Joker (Played cards with {{Suit|Club}} suit give {{Mult|+3}} when scored Common Additive Mult On Scored Gluttonous Joker.png) - Each  Club or  Spade provides +3 Mult.
• Bloodstone ({{hl|green|1 in 2}} chance for played cards with {{suit|Heart}} suit to give {{xmult|1.5}} when scored Have at least {{hl|orange|30}} cards with {{hl|orange|Heart}} suit in your deck Uncommon Multiplicative Mult On Scored Bloodstone.png) - Each  Diamond or  Heart has a 1 in 2 chance to provide a X1.5 Mult.
• Rough Gem (Played cards with {{suit|Diamond}} suit earn {{Money|1}} when scored Have at least {{hl|orange|30}} cards with {{hl|orange|Diamond}} suit in your deck Uncommon Economy On Scored Rough Gem.png) - Each  Diamond or  Heart provides $1.
• Onyx Agate (Played cards with {{Suit|Club}} suit give {{mult|+7}} when scored Have at least {{hl|orange|30}} cards with {{hl|orange|Club}} suit in your deck Uncommon Additive Mult On Scored Onyx Agate.png) - Each  Club or  Spade provides +7 Mult.
• Arrowhead (Played cards with {{suit|Spade}} suit give {{Chips|+50}} when scored Have at least {{hl|orange|30}} cards with {{hl|orange|Spade}} suit in your deck Uncommon Chips On Scored Arrowhead.png) - Each  Club or  Spade provides +50 Chips.
• Ancient Joker (Each played card with [[Card Suits|{{hl|orange|[suit]}}]] gives {{xmult|1.5}} when scored, <br> <small>suit changes at end of round</small> Rare Multiplicative Mult On Scored Ancient Joker.png) -  Diamonds and  Hearts can be played interchangeably.  Clubs and  Spades can be played interchangeably.
• Castle (This Joker gains {{Chips|+3}} per discarded [[Card Suits|{{hl|orange|[suit]}}]] card, suit changes every round <br> {{currently|{{chips|+0}}}} Uncommon Chips Mixed Castle.png) -  Diamonds and  Hearts can be discarded interchangeably.  Clubs and  Spades can be discarded interchangeably.
• Seeing Double ({{xmult|2}} if played hand has a scoring {{suit|Club}} card and a scoring card of any other suit Play a hand that contains {{hl|orange|four}} <abbr title="Other suits that count as clubs (e.g. wild suits) with rank 7 will also count.">{{hl|orange|7 of Clubs}}</abbr> Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Independent Seeing_Double.png) - playing any hand (even High Card) containing a  Club or  Spade will trigger the X2 Mult effect, unless the card is Wild (Can be used as any suit Wild Card.png).
• Flower Pot ({{xmult|3}} if poker hand contains a {{Suit|Diamond}} card, {{Suit|Club}} card, {{Suit|Heart}} card, and {{Suit|Spade}} card Reach Ante level {{hl|orange|8}} Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Independent Flower_Pot.png) - Only two  Clubs or  Spades and two  Diamonds or  Hearts need to be played to trigger the X3 Mult effect.

There are other Jokers that work together well with Smeared Joker:

• Jokers that are effective with Flushes, such as Droll Joker ({{Mult|+10}} if played hand contains a {{ph|Flush}} Common Additive Mult Independent Droll Joker.png), Crafty Joker ({{Chips|+80}} if played hand contains a {{ph|Flush}} Common Chips Independent Crafty Joker.png), and The Tribe ({{xmult|2}} if played hand contains a {{ph|Flush}} Win a run without playing a {{ph|Flush}}. Rare Multiplicative Mult Independent The Tribe.png) all become easier to activate.
• As with Painted Deck, with Jokers like Juggler ({{hl|orange|+1}} hand size Common Effect N/A (Passive) Juggler.png), Troubadour ({{hl|orange|+2}} hand size, <br> {{hl|blue|-1}} hand each round Win {{hl|orange|5}} consecutive rounds by <abbr title="Discards are OK to use.">playing only 1 hand</abbr> Uncommon Effect N/A (Passive) Troubadour.png) and Turtle Bean ({{hl|orange|+5}} hand size, reduces by {{hl|red|1}} each round Uncommon Effect N/A (Passive) Turtle Bean.png), increasing hand size can usually guarantee a Flush.
• Séance (If [[Poker Hands|{{hl|orange|poker hand}}]] is a {{ph|Straight Flush}}, create a random [[Spectral_Cards|{{hl|sblue|Spectral}}]] card <br> {{room}} Uncommon Effect Independent Séance.png) - Since playing Straight Flushes becomes a lot more common with Smeared Joker, you can create Spectral Cards much easier this way.

• Paint Brush ({{hl|orange|+1}} hand size Base Paint Brush.png) once again increases hand size, guaranteeing a Flush with Smeared Joker under most circumstances.
• Palette ({{hl|orange|+1}} hand size Reduce your hand size down to five cards. Upgraded Palette.png)'s increase to 10 is less valuable since Flushes are already guaranteed, but still gives more room to find specific cards if that's desirable for some reason.

Smeared Joker doubles a player's vulnerability to suit bosses:

• The Head ( Boss The Head.png) and The Window ( Boss The Window.png) both debuff all  Diamond and  Heart cards.
• The Club ( Boss The Club.png) and The Goad ( Boss The Goad.png) both debuff all  Club and  Spade cards.

• This card's name and design are a reference to how in a normal playing card deck,  Club and  Spade are the same color, just like  Diamond and  Hearts. As such, if the actual symbol of the suit was smeared and illegible, it would be difficult to tell them apart.
• Due to the letters being smeared, this Joker is the only non-Legendary Joker to not legibly contain the word "Joker" in its sprite.
