Scholar is a Common Chips and Additive Mult Joker which gives +20 Chips and +4 Mult per Ace scored.

• Abandoned Deck ( Start run with no {{F|}}[[Card Ranks#Face cards|{{hl|orange|Face Cards}}]] in your deck Win a run with the {{D|Green}} on [[Stakes|any difficulty]] Abandoned Deck.png) can reliably find Aces more often than the typical 52-card decks.
• Red Deck ( {{hl|red|+1}} discard every round Unlocked from start Red Deck.png) gives +1 discard, allowing for more opportunities to dig for Aces.
• Certain Erratic Deck ( All [[Card Ranks|{{hl|orange|Ranks}}]] and [[Suits|{{hl|orange|Suits}}]] in deck are randomized Win a run with any [[Decks|deck]] on the {{Stake|Orange}} difficulty or harder Erratic Deck.png) seeds can have more Aces.

• In general, the more Aces you play in a hand, the more valuable Scholar will be.

• Fibonacci (Each played {{hl|orange|Ace}}, {{hl|orange|2}}, {{hl|orange|3}}, {{hl|orange|5}}, or {{hl|orange|8}} gives {{Mult|+8}} when scored Uncommon Additive Mult On Scored Fibonacci.png) gives you +8 Mult per Ace.
• Odd Todd (Played cards with [[Card Ranks|{{hl|orange|odd}}]] rank give {{Chips|+31}} when scored <br> {{hl|gray|(A, 9, 7, 5, 3)}} Common Chips On Scored Odd Todd.png) adds +31 Chips per Ace.
• Aces do not have a retrigger Joker associated with their rank. However, Hanging Chad (Retrigger {{hl|orange|first}} played card used in scoring {{hl|orange|2}} additional times Beat a Boss Blind with a {{ph|High Card}} Common Retrigger On Scored Hanging Chad.png) and Dusk (Retrigger all played cards in {{hl|orange|final hand}} of the round Uncommon Retrigger On Scored Dusk.png) can still be used to trigger Aces multiple times.
• DNA (If {{hl|orange|first hand}} of round has only {{hl|orange|1}} card, add a permanent copy to deck and draw it to {{hl|orange|hand}} Rare Effect On Played DNA.png) can copy an Ace every first hand.
• Superposition (Create a [[Tarot Cards|{{hl|purple|Tarot}}]] card if poker hand contains an {{hl|orange|Ace}} and a {{ph|Straight}} <br> {{room}} Common Effect Independent Superposition.png) creates a Tarot Card if the played hand is a Straight which contains an Ace.
• Trading Card (If {{hl|orange|first discard}} of round has only {{hl|orange|1}} card, destroy it and earn {{Money|3}} Uncommon Economy On Discard Trading Card.png) can help thin the deck out, so you can draw Aces more reliably.
• Any jokers requiring multiples of the same rank cards like The Trio ({{xmult|3}} if played hand contains a {{ph|Three of a Kind}} Win a run without playing a {{ph|Three of a Kind}}. Rare Multiplicative Mult Independent The Trio.png), Zany Joker ({{Mult|+12}} if played hand contains a {{ph|Three of a Kind}} Common Additive Mult Independent Zany Joker.png), etc..

Tarot Cards:

• The Hanged Man (Destroys up to {{hl|orange|2}} selected cards Available from start. Tarot The Hanged Man.png) can be used to thin out the deck and make Aces easier to find.
• Death (Select {{hl|orange|2}} cards, convert the {{hl|orange|left}} card into the {{hl|orange|right}} card<br>{{hl|gray|(Drag to rearrange)}} Available from start. Tarot Death.png) can be used to turn other cards into Aces.
• Strength (Increases rank of up to {{hl|orange|2}} selected cards by {{hl|orange|1}} Available from start. Tarot Strength.png) can be used to upgrade Kings into Aces.

Spectral Cards:

• Deja Vu (Add a [[Red Seal|{{hl|red|Red Seal}}]] to {{hl|orange|1}} selected card in your hand Available from start. Spectral Deja Vu.png) can add a Red Seal to Aces and allow Scholar to trigger them multiple times.
• Grim (Destroy {{hl|orange|1}} random card in your hand, add {{hl|orange|2}} random [[Card Modifiers#Enhancements|{{hl|orange|Enhanced}}]] [[Card Ranks#Aces|{{hl|orange|Aces}}]] to your hand Available from start. Spectral Grim.png) adds two enhanced Aces to the deck in exchange for destroying a random card.

• 15 Minute City ( ) and Mad World ( ) are not recommended, as these decks don't contain any Aces by default.

• The A+ mark is reminiscent of a teacher marking their student's homework with a red ballpoint pen.
• Aces give you +4 Mult and +20 chips (4/20), because aces are high.
• Scholar's sprite is missing a pixel on the "E" in the Top Left "Joker" label and on the "K" in the Bottom Right label.
• There are two Scholar sprites in the game files: one with shading on the hair and one without.
• Scholar is one of only two Jokers to provide both Chips and Mult buff to scored cards, the other being Walkie Talkie (Each played {{hl|orange|10}} or {{hl|orange|4}} gives {{chips|+10}} and {{mult|+4}} when scored Common Chips and Additive Mult On Scored Walkie_Talkie.png).
