Turtle Bean is an Uncommon Effect Joker that initially provides +5 Hand Size, but decreases by 1 every blind until it destroys itself, indicated by the word "Eaten!" appearing under the Joker, after which it has bean and gone.

The sell value of Turtle Bean does not depend on its current Hand Size value, so it is best to sell Turtle Bean when it is at +1 Hand Size, instead of letting it get destroyed (worth $0).

Any deck can benefit from Turtle Bean.

Any 5-card hand can benefit from Turtle Bean. In particular, the extra hand size makes finding matching cards for high-value hands, like Straight Flush or Flush Five, much easier.

If your goal is huge hand sizes, then:

• Juggler ({{hl|orange|+1}} hand size Common Effect N/A (Passive) Juggler.png): +1 hand size.

Turtle Bean has particular synergies with:

• Any Joker that provides held in-hand bonuses like Baron (Each {{hl|orange|King}} held in hand gives {{xmult|1.5}} Rare Multiplicative Mult On Held Baron.png), Shoot the Moon (Each {{hl|orange|Queen}} held in hand gives {{mult|+13}} Play every Heart card in your deck in one round. Common Additive Mult On Held Shoot the Moon.png), or Reserved Parking (Each {{hl|orange|face}} card held in hand has a {{hl|green|1 in 2}} chance to give {{Money|1}} Common Economy On Held Reserved Parking.png) benefits, since Turtle Bean allows larger hand sizes.
• Throwback ({{xmult|0.25}} for each [[Blinds|{{hl|orange|Blind}}]] skipped this run <br> {{currently|{{xmult|1}}}} Continue a saved run from the main menu Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Independent Throwback.png): Since Throwback benefits from skipping blinds, this extends the life of Turtle Bean.

Note that the increased Hand Size from Turtle Bean also applies to Tarot and Spectral packs. Thus:

• Tarot and Spectral Cards with selected card effects have a wider selection of cards to choose from your deck.

• Ouija (Converts all cards in hand to a single random [[Card Ranks|{{hl|orange|rank}}]]<br>{{hl|red|-1}} hand size Available from start. Spectral Ouija.png) and Sigil (Converts all cards in hand to a single random [[Card Suits|{{hl|orange|suit}}]] Available from start. Spectral Sigil.png) convert substantially more cards if used early in Turtle Bean's duration.

• If Crimson Heart ( Showdown Crimson Heart.png) disables Turtle Bean, the hand size will return to normal, but current cards in hand will stay intact until the next discard (ex: 13/8). By quitting to Main Menu and returning, the hand size actually permanently increases (ex: 13/13), giving players a permanent hand size upgrade.

• Blackboard ({{xmult|3}} if all cards held in hand are {{suit|Spades}} or {{suit|Clubs}} Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Independent Blackboard.png) can be harder to trigger, as the increased hand size can make it harder to hold only  Clubs and  Spades in your hand.
• More cards in hand mean that Blue Joker ({{Chips|+2}} for each remaining card in {{hl|orange|deck}} <br> {{currently|{{chips|+104}}}} Common Chips Independent Blue Joker.png) will give fewer chips.
• The increased hand size will make it hard for Raised Fist (Adds {{hl|orange|double}} the rank of {{hl|orange|lowest}} ranked card held in hand to Mult Common Additive Mult On Held Raised Fist.png) to give more score from high-ranked cards.

• The Non-Perishable ( ) challenge bans Turtle Bean.
• The Five-Card Draw ( ) challenge bans Turtle Bean.

• The black turtle bean is the only type of turtle bean. It is used in Latin American and Indian cuisine, to name a few. LocalThunk drew inspiration for this Joker from Mexican food.^[1]
• The turtle bean is often just referred to as a black bean in some areas.
• Because Turtle Bean lasts exactly 5 rounds, the Perishable () sticker has no effect on it, as it will get disappear immediately before it is set to be debuffed.
• This Joker is part of the group of "Consumable" Jokers that can be destroyed with usage, dubbed "Food Jokers" due to their shared theme.
