Erosion is an Uncommon Additive Mult Joker that gains +4 Mult for each card that's removed from the current deck from its original starting size (52 cards in general, 40 cards for the Abandoned Deck ( Start run with no {{F|}}[[Card Ranks#Face cards|{{hl|orange|Face Cards}}]] in your deck Win a run with the {{D|Green}} on [[Stakes|any difficulty]] Abandoned Deck.png), and 32 cards for Mad World ( )). For example, Erosion will give +40 Mult if there are 10 cards missing from the original deck. If the deck is equal to or greater than the original deck size, it gives +0 Mult.

• Erosion has synergy with all decks, since most players generally want to reduce their playing cards anyways, in order to draw more reliably.
• Zodiac Deck ( Start run with {{V|Tarot Merchant|class=hl-purple}}, {{V|Planet Merchant|class=hl-cyan}}, and {{V|Overstock|class=hl-orange}} Win a run with any [[Decks|deck]] on the {{Stake|Red}} difficulty or harder Zodiac Deck.png) can provide more Tarot Cards in the Shop with its starting Tarot Merchant ({{Tarot|}} cards appear {{hl|orange|2X}} more frequently in the shop Base Tarot Merchant.png), potentially increasing the odds of getting The Hanged Man (Destroys up to {{hl|orange|2}} selected cards Available from start. If the player can choose which cards to destroy, it may be useful to build towards higher-scoring hands, such as Four of a Kind or Full House. If not, it may be best to focus on smaller hands, such as Two Pair or Three of a Kind.

• The Hanged Man (Destroys up to {{hl|orange|2}} selected cards Available from start. • Abandoned Deck ( Start run with no {{F|}}[[Card Ranks#Face cards|{{hl|orange|Face Cards}}]] in your deck Win a run with the {{D|Green}} on [[Stakes|any difficulty]] Abandoned Deck.png) might have anti-synergy with Erosion, as it has only 40 cards instead of 52. Since there are less cards, erosion has a lower ceiling on the maximum mult it can give.
• Mad World ( ) starts with a 32 card deck, making it extremely difficult to earn value from Erosion with a ceiling even lower than the Abandoned Deck ( Start run with no {{F|}}[[Card Ranks#Face cards|{{hl|orange|Face Cards}}]] in your deck Win a run with the {{D|Green}} on [[Stakes|any difficulty]] Abandoned Deck.png).
• Medusa ( ) and Monolith ( ) don't work well with Erosion, as these decks both start with an Eternal Marble Joker (Adds one [[Stone Cards|{{hl|orange|Stone}}]] card to the deck when [[Blinds|{{hl|orange|Blind}}]] is selected Uncommon Effect On Blind Select Marble Joker.png), which makes Erosion very hard to scale.

• Blue Joker ({{Chips|+2}} for each remaining card in {{hl|orange|deck}} <br> {{currently|{{chips|+104}}}} Common Chips Independent Blue Joker.png) gives additional + Chips based on the size of player's deck, so it will provide less benefit as the player reduces their deck size for Erosion.
• Jokers that add playing cards to the player's deck reduce the amount of + Mult Erosion can provide.

• Erosion is the environmental process of the removal (and subsequent deposition) of material due to natural forces, typically weather. The removal of cards from a deck could thus be considered a kind of erosion of the deck.
