Polychrome

Polychrome
Effect
X1.5 Mult

Polychrome is an edition card modifier that gives X1.5 Mult when on a playing card or Joker. Polychrome playing cards give X1.5 Mult when played or retriggered, and Polychrome Jokers give X1.5 Mult when Jokers are calculated, (after playing cards are scored.)

Polychrome adds +$5 to the buy price of jokers and playing cards (with Illusion).

Acquisition

  • By default, Jokers in the shop or generated by Judgement have a 0.3% chance to be Polychrome. This becomes 0.9% with Hone and 2.1% with Glow Up.
  • Standard Packs can generate Polychrome playing cards, with a 1.2% chance by default, 2.4% with Hone, and 4.8% with Glow Up.
  • Illusion can generate Polychrome playing cards, but is not affected by Hone or Glow Up.
  • Aura has a 15% chance to add Polychrome to a selected playing card.
  • The Wheel of Fortune has a 15% chance to add Polychrome to a random Joker if it activates.
  • Hex applies Polychrome to a random Joker and destroys all other non- Eternal Jokers. If only 1 Joker is owned, Hex is guaranteed to apply Polychrome to that specific Joker.
  • The Polychrome Tag applies Polychrome to the next base edition joker in the shop and makes it free.
  • Death, Cryptid, and DNA can duplicate Polychrome playing cards.
  • Ankh and Invisible Joker are able to duplicate Polychrome Jokers.

Synergies

  • Red Seals retrigger playing cards 1 additional time, which gives X2.25 Mult if that card is polychrome.
  • Hanging Chad can give X3.375 Mult if your first scored card is Polychrome. While Hanging Chad is best utilized early game when Polychrome cards in your deck are limited, it can still be viable well into endless.
  • Sock and Buskin, Dusk, Hack, and Seltzer can retrigger your played Polychrome cards, essentially doubling Polychrome's effect. While all of these are viable, Sock and Buskin and Hack are the best as they can be utilized multiple times per round and are not consumed.
  • Jokers with exponential scaling potential such as Triboulet and The Idol are both ideal Jokers to pair with Polychrome cards, providing a significant amount of extra xMult, especially when retriggered.
  • Photograph is great if you have Polychrome face cards, or have Pareidolia to trigger its effect on a non-face Polychrome card.
  • Invisible Joker can copy a Polychrome Joker, the new Joker will keep the Polychrome edition.
  • Ectoplasm allows for an extra Joker to be utilized, and its -1 hand size is not much of a downside if your deck is comprised multiple copies of 1 card. Because Polychrome cards only activate when scored, there is no need to have a large hand size.
  • Ankh can copy a Polychrome Joker. If that Joker is Eternal, then multiple copies of a Polychrome Joker can be made with Ankh.

Usage notes

  • Polychrome Jokers score at the same time as other Jokers in your Joker slots, including jokers such as Even Steven, who trigger when a card is scored. It's best to move your Polychrome Jokers to the right of any additive Mult Jokers.
  • If Polychrome is on a card that gives additive Mult, the additive Mult will be added first, then the Polychrome will multiply the result by X1.5 Mult. (E.g, Joker would give +4 Mult, then give X1.5 Mult)
