Blue Joker is a Common Chips Joker that adds 2 Chips for every card still in the deck — cards that have not been played/discarded nor are currently held in hand. Its value starts high and decreases as the round continues and cards are drawn.

Synergies

  • Plasma Deck benefits the most from the large amount of chips Blue Joker provides, which, when balanced, greatly boost the score for the played hand.
  • Green Deck encourages not using Hands/Discards, which keeps the Chips from Blue Joker high during the round.
  • Medusa and Monolith both work well with Blue Joker, as these decks both start with a Marble Joker, which means Blue Joker gains +2 Chips for free each blind.
  • Five-Card Draw's reduced hand size has slight synergy with Blue Joker since fewer cards are drawn to hand, meaning more cards remain in the deck, allowing Blue Joker to stay a bit stronger.

Hands that use fewer cards, require less discarding, and have fewer base chips benefit more from Blue Joker:

  • Blue Joker naturally becomes more powerful as more cards are added to the deck and thus synergizes with Jokers such as:
    • DNA
    • Certificate
    • Marble Joker
    • Hologram
  • Jokers that reduce hand size, like Merry Andy and Stuntman, have slight synergy with Blue Joker since fewer cards are drawn to hand, meaning more cards remain in the deck, allowing Blue Joker to stay a bit stronger.
  • The Manacle: The -1 hand size penalty from this Boss Blind actually synergizes with Blue Joker, as fewer cards are drawn each hand, allowing Blue Joker to stay a bit stronger.
  • Familiar, Grim, and Incantation add cards to the deck and thus increase the value from Blue Joker.
  • Ouija and Ectoplasm have slight synergy with Blue Joker since fewer cards are drawn to hand, meaning more cards remain in the deck, allowing Blue Joker to stay a bit stronger.

Anti-Synergies

  • Abandoned Deck and Mad World don't work well with Blue Joker due to their lower total card count.
  • Painted Deck will also marginally hurt Blue Joker due to its larger hand size.
  • Fragile doesn't work well with Blue Joker, as the player starts with a 52 card deck full of Glass Cards that are guaranteed to break by virtue of having 2 Oops! All 6s upon starting the challenge, which makes Blue Joker quickly fall off in value on this deck.
  • Erosion gains Mult for having fewer cards in the deck.
  • Glass Joker requires destroying Glass Cards, which is not good for Blue Joker.
    • Similarly, Canio requires destroying Face Cards, which is also not good for Blue Joker.
  • Hand Size increasing Jokers like Juggler, Troubadour, and Turtle Bean mean that more cards will be drawn to hand, meaning that Blue Joker will give fewer Chips.
  • Jokers that destroy cards, such as Sixth Sense or Trading Card, will make Blue Joker lose value
  • The Hook discards two random cards every hand played, potentially weakening Blue Joker in the process if more hands must be used to reach the required score.
  • The Hanged Man and Immolate destroy cards, which reduces the Chips given by Blue Joker.
  • Paint Brush and Palette increase hand size, which reduces the amount of Chips given by Blue Joker.

Strategies

While Blue Joker does get stronger the more cards are in the deck and weaker the fewer cards are in the deck, this might not be the best way to think about Blue Joker. Instead, it is best to think about Blue Joker as if it gave +70 Chips on average, as it often gives this amount of chips within a normal deck. From that perspective, Blue Joker is one of the strongest and most reliable chip jokers at common, especially in the early game.

Trivia

  • Despite being similarly named to the Green Joker, the art for the Blue Joker is completely original rather than being a recolor of the original Joker.
  • The name and colour for Blue Joker may be because Chips are blue.
