Monolith is a Challenge Deck. Centering around the usage of Obelisk, this deck starts with an Eternal Obelisk, and an Eternal Negative Marble Joker, encouraging players to use the High Card inflation strategy to boost Obelisk in the late game.

Starting Contents

The starting deck contains the standard 52 cards.

Synergies

  • Jokers that provide scaling + Mult independent of poker hands like Red Card or Bootstraps are very important with Obelisk, as little Mult will be provided from the hands themselves.
  • Hologram works well alongside Marble Joker, gaining X0.25 Mult every blind.
  • Stone Joker provides additional chip bonus which scales with Marble Joker every blind.
  • Driver's License will become active very quickly with Marble Joker adding an Enhanced card every Blind.
  • Vampire can use Marble Joker as an enhancement generator to scale more easily.
    • With Vampire removing the enhancement from all Stone Cards, the player will need to find a replacement source of + Chips like Square Joker or Bull.

Anti-Synergies

  • Higher value poker hands like Straight and Four of a Kind that rely on finding specific cards are much harder to find with many Stone Cards in the deck.
  • Burglar removes all Discards, and may force the most played hand to be played, resetting Obelisk.
  • All Jokers that rely on playing specific hands, including Superposition, Crazy Joker, and The Order will not be able to be used as much due to Obelisk.
  • Planet Cards, and Jokers that upgrade hands like Space Joker and Burnt Joker, are far less effective because the hand can only be used a limited number of times due to Obelisk.
  • Erosion relies on a small deck size, which is more difficult to get when 1 card is added per round from Marble Joker.

Trivia

  • A monolith is a large single upright block of stone, especially one shaped into or serving as a pillar or monument. This is reflected by the starting Obelisk.
