Fragile is a Challenge Deck. It comes with all Glass Cards and two Eternal, Negative Oops! All 6s, ensuring that every Glass Card is broken upon being played. Additionally, any way of adding or modifying playing cards is banned. As the game ends when all cards are gone, care should be taken to avoid breaking every card.

Starting Contents

The starting deck contains the standard 52 cards, and each one is Glass.

Synergies

  • Cryptid is still allowed in order to duplicate the Glass Cards the player already has in their deck.
  • Glass Joker will build reliably throughout the challenge.
  • Canio can gain X1 Mult for each destroyed Face Card, which would activate for every played scoring Face Card in this challenge.
  • Driver's License will immediately provide X3 Mult, though it could expire if the player's deck is reduced to 15 or fewer cards.
  • Erosion gains mult similarly throughout the run. It is weaker than Glass Joker, however, because its additive mult comes into play after the Glass Cards are used.
  • Abstract Joker can get an extra +6 Mult with the two negative Oops! All 6s.
  • Gros Michel will be much likelier to go extinct with the two Oops! All 6s, so you can get Cavendish much faster for a flat X3 Mult.
  • Half Joker can be beneficial as well, since you want to play smaller poker hands.
  • Burnt Joker will help you level up your poker hands quickly since you want to play smaller hands like High Card or Pair. This means you can draw it much easier to discard for Burnt Joker.
  • Throwback provides a good scaling XMult source, as players are encouraged to skip blinds to preserve as many Glass cards as possible to beat Ante 8.
  • Retriggers such as Hanging Chad and Sock and Buskin allow Glass Cards to become far more powerful.
  • Space Joker and 8 Ball are guaranteed to hit, which is useful to level up played hands or spawn Tarot cards.
  • Any Boss Blind that debuffs cards will allow Glass Cards to be played without breaking, giving players a chance to preserve some Glass Cards to use at later blinds, be it The Head, The Club, The Plant, Verdant Leaf, etc.
    • This is the only case where Pareidolia can be useful during The Plant, as every card will be debuffed and therefore cannot be destroyed. If a player doesn't mainly rely on Glass Cards X2 Mult to beat this blind, it can actually save the run.
  • Crimson Heart can randomly disable one of the two Oops! All 6s, giving Glass Cards a 1 in 2 chance to survive.
  • The Pillar will usually have no effect, as all previously played cards will have been destroyed.
  • The Wheel of Fortune has a 4 in 4 chance of applying an Edition to a Joker. This means that there is a 50% chance of applying Foil to a random Joker, a 35% chance of applying Holographic, and a 15% chance of applying Polychrome.
  • Baseball Card will get X2.25 Mult for free.
  • Bloodstone will always trigger, although the number of cards that are usable with it will decline through use.

Anti-Synergies

  • Any scaling Joker that requires playing hands, for example Green Joker and Spare Trousers, will be hard to scale as more Glass cards will break in the process.
  • Similarly, Acrobat, Card Sharp, and Dusk should not be used, as they require playing many hands, when ideally you should be playing as little as possible to conserve your cards.
  • Blue Joker quickly falls off in value in this challenge.
  • Splash can result in cards being broken prematurely.
  • Hologram is far harder to use due to all sources of adding playing cards besides Cryptid and DNA being banned in this challenge.
  • Immolate shouldn't be used more than once, since losing five cards can make it impossible to assemble certain winning hands. Likewise, The Hanged Man and Trading Card shouldn't be used unless to buff Glass Joker.
  • DNA is weaker in this challenge due to the copied card breaking immediately thereafter.
  • Jokers that rely on specific cards needing to be played, since they will get destroyed afterwards.
    • This includes Fibonacci, Wee Joker, Smiley Face, etc.
  • The ability of The Wheel becomes 4 in 7 cards drawn face down instead of 1 in 7.
  • Justice does not change anything unless Fortune Teller is owned when used, as every card is already a Glass Card to begin with.
  • Hiker is basically useless, as the played cards will be destroyed immediately afterwards. This isn't too much of an issue if combined with a retriggering Joker, but it's still not recommended.

Trivia

  • To be fragile means to break easily. This challenge mirrors this by making every card get destroyed after it gets played.
