The Hook is a boss blind that discards two cards held in the player's hand after each played hand.

• Playing certain hands such as Straight or Full House which can't be guaranteed with discards alone may be significantly affected by The Hook, as the player can't play hands to draw more cards that would fit the hand they already have.
• All effects from cards held in hand can't be guaranteed, such as Blue Seal (Creates the {{Planet|}} card for final played [[Poker Hands|{{hl|orange|poker hand}}]] of round if {{hl|orange|held}} in hand<br>{{room}} Blue Seal.png), Steel Cards ({{xmult|1.5}} while this card stays in hand Steel Card.png) and Gold Cards ({{money|3}} if this card is held in hand at end of round Gold Card.png), and scoring from Jokers such as Baron (Each {{hl|orange|King}} held in hand gives {{xmult|1.5}} Rare Multiplicative Mult On Held Baron.png) or Shoot the Moon (Each {{hl|orange|Queen}} held in hand gives {{mult|+13}} Play every Heart card in your deck in one round.   • However, unless there are no cards remaining in the hand, cards discarded by The Hook may result in a better Raised Fist (Adds {{hl|orange|double}} the rank of {{hl|orange|lowest}} ranked card held in hand to Mult Common Additive Mult On Held Raised Fist.png) score.
• The Hook may help by triggering effects via discarding, such as discarding cards with Purple Seals or activating discard-focused Jokers like Mail-In Rebate (Earn {{Money|5}} for each discarded [[Card Ranks|{{hl|orange|[rank]}}]], rank changes every round Common Economy On Discard Mail-In Rebate.png), Hit the Road (This Joker gains {{xmult|0.5}} for every {{hl|orange|Jack}} discarded this round<br> {{Currently|{{xmult|1}}}} Discard {{hl|orange|5 Jacks}} at the same time.   • If only one card is held in the player's hand, it can also trigger Trading Card (If {{hl|orange|first discard}} of round has only {{hl|orange|1}} card, destroy it and earn {{Money|3}} Uncommon Economy On Discard Trading Card.png).
  • This effect can also decrease Ramen ({{xmult|2}}, loses {{xmult|0.01}} per {{hl|orange|card}} discarded Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Mixed Ramen.png) and Green Joker ({{mult|+1}} per hand played <br> {{mult|-1}} per discard <br> {{Currently|{{mult|+0}}}} Common Additive Mult Mixed Green_Joker.png)'s Multiplier.
  • However, the Hook's discards will not prevent Delayed Gratification (Earn {{Money|2}} per {{hl|orange|discard}} if no discards are used by end of the round Common Economy N/A (Passive) Delayed_Gratification.png) from taking effect, trigger Burnt Joker (Upgrade the level of the first {{hl|orange|discarded}} poker hand each round Sell 50 cards. • The icon for The Hook is the Phoenician letter Waw (𐤅), which represents a hook in the hieroglyphics from which it is derived.
• This is the Boss Blind on the "TUTORIAL" seed's Ante 1, first given as a tutorial to new players.
