15 Minute City
Two copies of every face card;
no Aces, 2s, or 3s
15 Minute City is a Challenge Deck. It adds a second copy of every face card by replacing all the Aces, 2s and 3s.
Starting Contents
The starting jokers are an Eternal
Ride the Bus (This Joker gains +1 per orange hand played without a scoring orange card <br> Common Additive Mult Mixed Ride the Bus.png), and an Eternal
Shortcut (Allows Straights to be made with gaps of orange <br> Uncommon Effect N/A (Passive) Shortcut.png).
The starting deck contains 52 cards in total, consisting of 24 face cards (eight Jacks, eight Queens, eight Kings), and 28 non-face cards (four through ten in each of the four suits).
Synergies
Due to the way this Challenge is set up, players can opt to two strategies: scale Ride the Bus by playing Straight with number cards, or just focus on building around Face Cards, which means ignoring the two starting Jokers altogether.
- Jokers that synergize with the easier to make Straights such as
Runner (Gains +15 if played hand contains a Straight <br> Common Chips Mixed Runner.png) or
The Order (3 if played hand contains a Straight Win a run without playing a Straight. Rare Multiplicative Mult Independent The Order.png).
- Face-card buffing Jokers such as
Photograph (First played orange card gives 2 when scored Common Multiplicative Mult On Scored Photograph.png) or
Sock and Buskin (Retrigger all played orange cards Play a total of orange face cards Uncommon Retrigger On Scored Sock and Buskin.png) due to the extra face cards.
- Jokers that rely on specific face cards like
Shoot the Moon (Each orange held in hand gives +13 Play every Heart card in your deck in one round. Common Additive Mult On Held Shoot the Moon.png),
Baron (Each orange held in hand gives 1.5 Rare Multiplicative Mult On Held Baron.png),
Triboulet (Played Kings and Queens each give 2 when scored Find this Joker from the sblue card. Legendary Multiplicative Mult On Scored Triboulet.png) or
Hit the Road (This Joker gains 0.5 for every orange discarded this round<br> Discard orange at the same time. Rare Multiplicative Mult Mixed Hit_the_Road.png) benefit from this deck as well, as they essentially have twice the amount of their required face cards, and (in the case of King- and Queen- based jokers) twice as much lower cards which can be affected with
Strength (Increases rank of up to orange selected cards by orange Available from start. Tarot Strength.png).
- If one instead chooses to ignore the face cards and just scale the
Ride the Bus (This Joker gains +1 per orange hand played without a scoring orange card <br> Common Additive Mult Mixed Ride the Bus.png),
Canio (This Joker gains 1 when a orange card is destroyed <br> Find this Joker from the sblue card. Legendary Multiplicative Mult Mixed Canio.png) will allow you to weed out the face cards while also giving you a massive buff when combined with a reliable way of destroying cards.
Anti-Synergies
- It is not recommended to use
Hack (Retrigger each played orange, orange, orange, or orange Uncommon Retrigger On Scored Hack.png) or
Fibonacci (Each played orange, orange, orange, orange, or orange gives +8 when scored Uncommon Additive Mult On Scored Fibonacci.png) due to the lack of Aces, 2s and 3s.
- Similarly,
Scholar (Played orange give +20 and +4 when scored Common Chips and Additive Mult On Scored Scholar.png) and
Wee Joker (This Joker gains +8 when each played orange is scored <br> Win a run in orange or fewer rounds Rare Chips Mixed Wee Joker.png) are downright useless.
Joker Stencil (1 for each empty orange slot <br> <small>Joker Stencil included</small> <br> Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Independent Joker Stencil.png) caps at X3 Mult in this challenge due to the two starting eternal Jokers.
- Due to the increased amount of face cards,
The Plant ( Boss The Plant.png) and
The Mark ( Boss The Mark.png) can become particularly deadly.
- Although not being straight up useless, do note that
Pareidolia (All cards are considered orange cards Uncommon Effect N/A (Passive) Pareidolia.png) can make Ride the Bus useless.
Trivia
- The concept of a 15-Minute City is an urban environment where most amenities (such as shops, education, leisure facilities, and healthcare) can be found within a 15-minute walk, cycle, or public transport from your home or where you are.
- The deck's name could be referring to the nature of using an actual Shortcut or bus (from Ride the Bus) to traverse a city quicker.
