Crimson Heart is a Showdown Blind that debuffs a random Joker in possession every hand. It never picks the same Joker twice in a row, unless it is the player's only Joker.

For example, if a player has 5 Jokers, and Joker #3 gets debuffed by Crimson Heart, that Joker will be disabled until the player plays a hand. Once the hand is played, Joker #3 will no longer be debuffed, but instead, a different random Joker will be debuffed, such as Joker #5.

Usage notes

  • Jokers already debuffed (due to Perishable sticker) will never be chosen when Crimson Heart randomly selects a Joker.
  • Selling Luchador when debuffed does not disable Crimson Heart.
  • If Mr. Bones is debuffed on the final hand, it cannot activate to save the player.
  • On the winning hand, Crimson Heart debuffs a Joker until the next shop. This means some Jokers might not behave as expected at the end of the round.
    • End-of-round economy Jokers such as Golden Joker or Cloud 9 will not grant money.
    • Egg and Gift Card will not upgrade. Rocket will not upgrade and will not grant money.
    • Invisible Joker will delay its countdown by 1 round.
    • Campfire and Hit the Road will not reset, allowing the player to scale them for another ante or round respectively.
    • Gros Michel and Cavendish cannot go extinct, guaranteeing a Stake Sticker on them.
    • Popcorn and Turtle Bean will not degrade. This is a rare case where a Perishable version of them will be out of sync with their natural countdown.
    • A debuffed Perishable Joker will still degrade as normal. Similarly, a debuffed Rental Joker will still charge the player $3 at the end of the round.
  • The Jokerless challenge bans Crimson Heart.

Strategies

  • You can disable Crimson Heart's effect with Chicot or by selling Luchador. Note that selling Luchador while it is debuffed will not disable Crimson Heart's effect.
  • You can play a useless hand to get Crimson Heart to debuff a different Joker. This can be useful if you are preparing to play a big hand and need the effect of certain Jokers.
  • Having lots of Jokers from increasing Joker slots or Negative Jokers lowers the chance of Crimson Heart disabling important Jokers.
  • When certain Jokers are debuffed, you can make certain actions that you wouldn't otherwise. For example, if Obelisk is debuffed, you can play your most-played hand without resetting it; if Ramen is debuffed, you can discard without losing xMult, etc.
  • A debuffed Loyalty Card will still count every hand played toward its 6 hands requirement. If the Joker is active when it's debuffed, it will not trigger until it is enabled again.
  • DNA and Sixth Sense can only work on the first hand ever of a round. So if the player is unlucky and gets one of them debuffed by Crimson Heart on the first hand, then the player is denied its value for that round. Similarly, Burnt Joker and Trading Card can only work on the first discard ever of a round. Although for their case if they are debuffed on the first hand, the player can play a throwaway hand before using their first discard to move the debuff effect to another Joker.
  • If Crimson Heart debuffs any hand size increasing Joker, such as Turtle Bean or Juggler, the hand size will return to normal but current hand will stay intact until the next discard (ex: 13/8). By quitting to Main Menu and returning, the hand size actually permanently increases (ex: 13/13), giving players a permanent hand size upgrade. The same can be done with a hand size decreasing Joker such as Merry Andy or Stuntman but in reverse, quitting when any Joker but that one is debuffed. The two strategies also work together, increasing hand size even further.
