Cruelty
Small Blinds give no reward money
Big Blinds give no reward money
3 Joker Slots
Cruelty is a Challenge Deck. It gives the player only 3 Joker Slots, and the
Small Blind ( Standard Small Blind.png)/
Big Blind ( Standard Big Blind.png) no longer give any reward money.
Starting Contents
The starting deck contains the standard 52 cards.
Synergies
Due to the -2 Joker slots penalty and very low econ, only several specific builds can clear this challenge.
- Econ Jokers like
Golden Joker (Earn 4 at end of round Common Economy N/A (Passive) Golden_Joker.png),
Cloud 9 (Earn 1 for each orange in your orange at end of round <br> Uncommon Economy N/A (Passive) Cloud 9.png), or
Rocket (Earn 1 at end of round. Payout increases by 2 when orange is defeated Uncommon Economy N/A (Passive) Rocket.png) are a good pickup early on to quickly build up to the max interest threshold.
- Scaling Jokers like
Square Joker (This Joker gains +4 if played hand has exactly orange cards <br> Common Chips Mixed Square_Joker.png),
Supernova (Adds the number of times orange has been played this run to Mult Common Additive Mult Independent Supernova.png), or
Constellation (This Joker gains 0.1 every time a cyan card is used <br> Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Independent Constellation.png) can provide increasing sources of Chips, Mult, and XMult, and make the best use of the limited Joker slots.
- With limited Joker slots, being able to scale, generate value, and score without Jokers is more important:

Blue Seals (Creates the card for final played orange of round if orange in hand<br>room Blue Seal.png) provide the most consistent source of scaling without Jokers.

Purple Seals (Creates a card when orange<br>room Purple Seal.png) provide a source of Tarot Cards without Jokers.
Gold Cards (3 if this card is held in hand at end of round Gold Card.png) and
Gold Seals (Earn 3 when this card is played and scores Gold Seal.png) provide one of the only ways to gain more money without economy Jokers.
Steel Cards (1.5 while this card stays in hand Steel Card.png) provide a consistent way to score more without Jokers.
Glass Cards (2<br>green chance to destroy card Glass Card.png) provides both a way to deck fix by breaking cards early, a quick way to score more in tough Boss Blinds or when Antes scale too quickly, and an incredibly powerful source of XMult late game.

Red Seals (Retrigger this card orange time Red Seal.png) synergize with both
Gold Cards (3 if this card is held in hand at end of round Gold Card.png),
Steel Cards (1.5 while this card stays in hand Steel Card.png), and
Glass Cards (2<br>green chance to destroy card Glass Card.png).
Telescope (orange always contain the cyan card for your most played orange Base Telescope.png) and
Observatory (cyan cards in your orange area give 1.5 for their specified orange Use a total of orange cyan cards from any cyan Upgraded Observatory.png) provide consistent scaling, and X1.5 Mult per planet card held in the consumable area respectively.
- The
Negative Tag ( Discover the Negative edition Negative tag.png) can provide extra Jokers.
Antimatter (edition Joker Slot Redeem Blank 10 total times Upgraded Antimatter.png) can provide an extra Joker slot without the need of any
Negative (edition Joker or Consumable slot Joker (Negative).png) Jokers.
Anti-Synergies
- As there are only 3 Joker slots,
Joker Stencil (1 for each empty orange slot <br> <small>Joker Stencil included</small> <br> Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Independent Joker Stencil.png) can only provide a maximum of X3 Mult.
- Similarly,
Abstract Joker (+3 for each orange card<br> Common Additive Mult Independent Abstract Joker.png) and
Swashbuckler (Adds the sell value of all other owned orange to Mult <br> Sell a total of orange Joker cards Common Additive Mult Independent Swashbuckler.png) will be weaker as fewer Jokers can be acquired.
- As econ is lower during earlier antes,
Bull (+2 for each you have <br> Uncommon Chips Independent Bull.png) and
Bootstraps (+2 for every 5 you have <br> Have at least orange edition Jokers at the same time. Uncommon Additive Mult Independent Bootstraps.png) will be harder to scale without other income sources.
- Other Jokers that rely on money to scale, like
Flash Card (This Joker gains +2 per orange in the shop <br> Uncommon Additive Mult Independent Flash Card.png) and
Ceremonial Dagger (When orange is selected, destroy Joker to the right and permanently add orange its sell value to this red <br> Uncommon Additive Mult Independent Ceremonial Dagger.png), are also more difficult to scale early game.
Riff-Raff (When orange is selected, create orange blue orange <br> room Common Effect On Blind Select Riff-Raff.png) is more difficult to use with fewer slots free for new Jokers.
Gift Card (Add 1 of orange to every orange and orange card at end of round Uncommon Economy N/A (Passive) Gift Card.png) is less powerful with 2 fewer Jokers for it to increase the sell value of.
Baseball Card (green Jokers each give 1.5 Rare Multiplicative Mult On Other Jokers Baseball Card.png) is less powerful with 2 fewer possible Uncommon Jokers to gain X1.5 Mult.
- Effect Jokers that provide no direct scoring, such as
Splash (Every orange counts in scoring Common Effect N/A (Passive) Splash.png),
Shortcut (Allows Straights to be made with gaps of orange <br> Uncommon Effect N/A (Passive) Shortcut.png) or
Luchador (Sell this card to disable the current orange Uncommon Effect N/A (Passive) Luchador.png), become much harder to keep due to 2 missing Joker Slots.
Temperance (Gives the total sell value of all current Jokers<br>grey grey Available from start. Tarot Temperance.png) will give less money due to the player only having 3 Jokers slots.
Trivia
- In law terms, cruelty is behaviour which causes physical or mental harm to another, especially a spouse, whether intentionally or not. Having low econ on the beggining and being limited to 3 Joker Slots can be "cruelty" against the player.
