Double or Nothing is a Challenge Deck. All cards played will be debuffed after scoring.

Starting Contents

The starting deck contains the standard 52 cards, and each has a Red Seal.

Usage Notes

  • If you play a hand that is disallowed by a Boss Blind (like The Eye) the hand's scoring cards will still be debuffed.
  • Jokers that depend on the total number of cards in a deck (like Cloud 9) still count debuffed cards as normal.

Synergies

  • Jokers that award chips and mult after each card is scored, rather than during, are preferred.
  • Matador is a very good econ source, as playing any debuffed card will reward players $8, even during Small and Big Blind.
  • By using Planet Cards you can increase the score of the poker hand itself, instead of needing to rely on the cards that are played.
  • Jokers that proc independently of the debuffed played cards can also work.
    • For example, + Mult Jokers like Spare Trousers, Bootstraps, etc. can be scaled without the played cards needing to be buffed.
  • Jokers that care about cards in hand like Baron or Shoot the Moon will be doubly effective as the Red Seals will make them trigger twice, as long as they haven't been debuffed. Steel Cards are similarly doubly effective.
    • Mime will pair well with this as well, since it will retrigger the cards held in hand.
    • The Devil can also create Gold Cards which will give you an extra $3, with the Red Seal.
  • Using Tarot cards to give an enhancement to debuffed cards will revive them, so any good source of Tarot generating is recommended, be it Cartomancer, Superposition, Vagabond or 8 Ball.
    • This does not include Strength, suit changing tarot cards like The Sun, Aura or seal adding cards like Trance since they do not give enhancements.

Anti-Synergies

  • Debuffed cards copied by DNA stay debuffed when copying, though copies of non-debuffed cards will not get debuffed.
  • Using bigger Poker Hands like a Flush or Straight means that more of your cards will become debuffed. By using smaller Poker Hands like High Card or Pair, you will not have to worry about this as much.
  • Splash may result in an excessive amount of cards being debuffed.
  • Jokers that rely on specific cards needing to be played, since they will become debuffed afterwards (unless you can enhance them with a Tarot card).
    • This includes: Fibonacci, Wee Joker, Hack, Smiley Face, etc.
  • Unless any seal is changed, Deja Vu does nothing.
  • Hiker can only give a maximum of 10 Chips to every card.

Trivia

  • The term "double or nothing" is usually used in gambling games like poker, where someone can choose to either keep their prize, or try again to gain the double, with the risk of losing it all.
