Nebula Deck

Nebula Deck
Effect
Start run with the Telescope voucher
-1 consumable slot
Unlock Requirement
Win a run with the Blue Deck on any difficulty

The Nebula Deck is one of the decks you can unlock when playing the game, by winning a run with the Blue Deck.

Starting Contents

It contains the 52 cards of a normal deck: four suits, each with 13 cards (2 to 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace).

You also start with the Telescope voucher, but one fewer Consumable slot than usual.

Synergies

Nebula Deck is strongest with 5-card hands such as Straights, as the larger hands typically benefit significantly more from planet cards' effects.

  • Constellation gains X0.1 Mult each time a Planet Card is used, which is already highly encouraged with Telescope.
  • Satellite increases in money gained the more unique Planet Cards are used.
  • Astronomer makes all Planet Cards and Celestial Packs free, allowing for amazing synergy with Telescope as the most played hand can be consistently leveled up for free.
  • Four Fingers and Shortcut allow for 5-card hands to be played easier, pairing well with their increased scaling.
  • Crystal Ball will offset the -1 consumable slot penalty.

Anti-Synergies

Unfortunately, there are far more Jokers which suffer from the -1 Consumable slot, than benefit from the Telescope voucher. For example:

  • Vagabond gets significantly more difficult to use, to the point of being much less valuable when playing this deck.
  • Anything that makes Tarot cards or Planet cards in general, such as Cartomancer or Superposition, become more difficult to use. Additionally, The Fool, The Emperor, and the The High Priestess become less valuable, making Jokers which give Tarot cards less valuable as a result. Hallucination suffers even more than the others, as there must be an empty consumable slot for Hallucination to function at all.
  • Certificate's cards with Purple Seal or Blue Seal get much more clunky, as you cannot create two consumables at once, while you also need to get rid of any other consumable before obtaining even one.
  • Red Card encourages skipping Celestial Packs, even though they're more valuable than normal.
  • Séance's Spectral cards become much harder to save for a perfect opportunity.
    • This also applies to Sixth Sense.
  • Gift Card can increase the price of one less Consumable per round.
  • Campfire can be harder to hold onto Consumables to sell to increase its effectiveness between antes.

Vouchers

  • Because of the single consumable slot, Observatory gets significantly worse without Perkeo, even though this deck is the place where this Voucher is seen most often.

Trivia

  • Starting on Yellow Deck with Telescope in the first shop is identical to Nebula Deck's effect without the removal of a consumable slot and more $ from interest.
    • This means the Nebula Deck is often regarded as one of the worst decks in the game.
