Bram Poker
Jokers no longer appear in the
shop
Bram Poker is a Challenge Deck. While playing this challenge, jokers no longer appear in the Shop, meaning players will have to rely on scaling with the starting eternal
Vampire (This Joker gains 0.1 per scoring orange played, removes card orange <br> Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Mixed Vampire.png) using card enhancements and Planet cards. Note that Jokers can still be acquired via
Judgement (Creates a random orange card<br>room Available from start. Tarot Judgement.png), Booster Packs, and tags that spawn Jokers in the Shop.
Starting Contents
The starting deck contains the standard 52 cards, an eternal
Vampire (This Joker gains 0.1 per scoring orange played, removes card orange <br> Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Mixed Vampire.png), and the Tarot Cards
The Emperor (Creates up to orange random purple cards<br>room Available from start. Tarot The Emperor.png) and
The Empress (Enhances orange selected cards to orange Available from start. Tarot The Empress.png). The Vouchers
Magic Trick (orange can be purchased from the orange Base Magic Trick.png) and
Illusion (orange in shop may have an sblue, edition, and/or a orange Buy a total of 20 Playing cards from the shop Upgraded Illusion.png) have also been redeemed.
Synergies
Because Vampire requires a large amount of Enhanced cards to remove enhancements from, a strong economy and Tarot Card supply are needed to beat this challenge. This includes:
- Any economy , like
Golden Joker (Earn 4 at end of round Common Economy N/A (Passive) Golden_Joker.png),
Rocket (Earn 1 at end of round. Payout increases by 2 when orange is defeated Uncommon Economy N/A (Passive) Rocket.png), or
Cloud 9 (Earn 1 for each orange in your orange at end of round <br> Uncommon Economy N/A (Passive) Cloud 9.png).
- Tarot-generating Jokers like
8 Ball (green chance for each played orange to create a purple card when scored<br>room Common Effect On Scored 8_Ball.png),
Superposition (Create a purple card if poker hand contains an orange and a Straight <br> room Common Effect Independent Superposition.png),
Cartomancer (Create a purple card when orange is selected <br> room Discover every Tarot Card. Uncommon Effect On Blind Select Cartomancer.png), or
Vagabond (Create a purple card if hand is played with 4 or less Rare Effect Independent Vagabond.png).
Midas Mask (All played orange cards become orange cards when scored Uncommon Effect On Played Midas_Mask.png) can be a great addition, as it can help scale
Vampire (This Joker gains 0.1 per scoring orange played, removes card orange <br> Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Mixed Vampire.png) much faster.
- As the player needs to rely on Tarot Cards,
Fortune Teller (+1 per purple card used this run <br> Common Additive Mult Independent Fortune Teller.png) can be a good pickup.
- Since the player starts with
Magic Trick (orange can be purchased from the orange Base Magic Trick.png),
Hologram (This Joker gains 0.25 every time a orange is added to your deck <br> Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Independent Hologram.gif) will scale much faster.
- The
Uncommon Tag ( Uncommon tag.png) and
Rare Tag ( Discover Blueprint Rare tag.png) tags allow additional Jokers to spawn in the Shop, which can be combined with the
Foil Tag ( Discover the Foil edition Foil tag.png),
Holographic Tag ( Discover the Holographic edition Holographic tag.png),
Polychrome Tag ( Discover the Polychrome edition Polychrome tag.png), and
Negative Tag ( Discover the Negative edition Negative tag.png) to enhance them. If there are no Buffoon Packs in the Shop after a while, it might be worthwhile to skip blinds for these Tags if players are desperately in need of more Jokers.
Clearance Sale (All cards and packs in shop are orange off Base Clearance Sale.png) and
Liquidation (All cards and packs in shop are orange off Redeem at least 10 Voucher cards in one run Upgraded Liquidation.png) can help with the cost of Arcana Packs, Tarot Cards, and playing cards.
Tarot Merchant ( cards appear orange more frequently in the shop Base Tarot Merchant.png) and
Tarot Tycoon ( cards appear orange more frequently in the shop Buy a total of 50 Tarot cards from the shop Upgraded Tarot Tycoon.png) will make it more likely for Tarot Cards to appear to scale Vampire.
Anti-Synergies
- While not straight-up useless,
Showman (orange, purple, cyan, and sblue cards may appear multiple times Reach Ante level orange Uncommon Effect N/A (Passive) Showman.png) is significantly less useful due to Jokers no longer appearing in the Shop.
- Jokers that rely on specific card enhancements like
Lucky Cat (This Joker gains 0.25 every time a orange card green triggers <br> Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Mixed Lucky Cat.png),
Glass Joker (This Joker gains 0.75 for every orange that is destroyed <br> Have at least orange orange in your deck Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Independent Glass Joker.png), and
Golden Ticket (Played orange cards earn 4 when scored Play a 5 card hand that contains only orange cards Common Economy On Scored Golden Ticket.png) are basically useless, as it will be hard for the player to hold on to enhanced playing cards.
Driver's License (3 if you have at least orange Enhanced cards in your full deck <br> Enhance 16 cards in your deck Rare Multiplicative Mult Independent Driver's License.png) becomes impossible to use, as it requires not playing any enhanced cards. Not only that, but playing the enhanced cards needed to activate it will scale Vampire into X2.6 Mult, which is almost what it gives.
Trivia
- Bram Poker is a pun on the name of Irish author Bram Stoker, famously known for his 1897 novel Dracula, which popularised vampires outside Transylvanian folklore, and invented the idea of vampires transforming into bats and their weaknesses to garlic, crucifixes, and sunlight.
- This is the only challenge deck that starts with consumables.
