Purple Seal
Creates a
Tarot card when
discarded(Must have room)
The Purple Seal is a Seal card modifier that generates a Tarot card once a playing card with this seal is discarded, as long as there is at least one consumable slot available.
Acquisition
Medium (Add a purple to orange selected card in your hand Available from start. Spectral Medium.png) adds a Purple Seal to 1 selected card.
Certificate (When round begins, add a random orange with a random orange to your hand Have a Gold playing card with a orange Uncommon Effect N/A (Passive) Certificate.png) can create a random playing card with a Purple Seal when the round starts.
- Standard Packs can contain playing cards with Purple Seals.
- More cards with Purple Seals can be created with the
Death (Select orange cards, convert the orange card into the orange card<br>gray Available from start. Tarot Death.png) Tarot card and
DNA (If orange of round has only orange card, add a permanent copy to deck and draw it to orange Rare Effect On Played DNA.png) if the player already has at least 1 Purple Seal card in their deck.
Strategy
- Counterintuitively, Purple Seals should be put on high value cards. This is because although they incentivize those cards to be discarded, they also incentivize those cards to be duplicated. When many of the duplicated cards are in the deck, they provide far greater value.
- Purple Seal Cards should also be duplicated with
Death (Select orange cards, convert the orange card into the orange card<br>gray Available from start. Tarot Death.png) with higher priority than other cards, even if the other cards are more powerful. This is because the new Purple Seal Cards can be used to generate more
Death (Select orange cards, convert the orange card into the orange card<br>gray Available from start. Tarot Death.png) cards, exponentially increasing the number of Purple Seals and allowing the more powerful cards to be quickly and easily duplicated later in the run.
- Purple Seals are most powerful to obtain early game, as obtaining one later does not allow it to be duplicated as much, and it will provide far less value.
- Throwaway hands can be used to dig for Purple Seals without using discards, allowing more to be used per round.
- Only 2 Purple Seals should be discarded at a time (3 with
Crystal Ball (orange consumable slot Base Crystal Ball.png) or 1 on
Nebula Deck ( Start run with the voucher <br> red consumable slot Win a run with the Blue on any difficulty Nebula Deck.png)) because they only generate a Tarot Card if there is room.
Synergies
Red Deck ( red discard every round Unlocked from start Red Deck.png) gives +1 discard, allowing the player to find and make use of Purple Seals.
Drunkard (red discard each round Common Effect N/A (Passive) Drunkard.png) and
Merry Andy (red discards each round, <br>red hand size Win a run in orange or fewer rounds Uncommon Effect N/A (Passive) Merry_Andy.png) provide more discards, allowing the player to find and make use of Purple Seals.
The Idol (Each played [[Card Ranks|orange]] of [[Card Suits|orange]] gives 2 when scored<br><small>Card changes every round</small> In one hand, earn at least orange chips Uncommon Multiplicative Mult On Scored The Idol.png),
Bloodstone (green chance for played cards with Heart suit to give 1.5 when scored Have at least orange cards with orange suit in your deck Uncommon Multiplicative Mult On Scored Bloodstone.png),
Steel Joker (Gives 0.2 for each orange in your orange <br> Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Independent Steel Joker.png),
Wee Joker (This Joker gains +8 when each played orange is scored <br> Win a run in orange or fewer rounds Rare Chips Mixed Wee Joker.png), and many other Jokers benefit from the deck fixing provided by the Tarot Cards generated by Purple Seals.
Egg (Gains 3 of orange at end of round Common Economy N/A (Passive) Egg.png) and
Gift Card (Add 1 of orange to every orange and orange card at end of round Uncommon Economy N/A (Passive) Gift Card.png) both increase Joker sell value, making the
Temperance (Gives the total sell value of all current Jokers<br>grey grey Available from start. Tarot Temperance.png) cards generated from Purple Seals far more valuable.
Campfire (This Joker gains 0.25 for each card orange, resets when orange is defeated <br> Rare Multiplicative Mult Independent Campfire.png) gains X0.25 Mult for every Tarot Card sold.
Fortune Teller (+1 per purple card used this run <br> Common Additive Mult Independent Fortune Teller.png) gains +1 Mult for every Tarot Card used.

- Enhancement Jokers (
Stone Joker (Gives +25 for each orange in your orange <br> Uncommon Chips Independent Stone Joker.png),
Steel Joker (Gives 0.2 for each orange in your orange <br> Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Independent Steel Joker.png),
Glass Joker (This Joker gains 0.75 for every orange that is destroyed <br> Have at least orange orange in your deck Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Independent Glass Joker.png),
Golden Ticket (Played orange cards earn 4 when scored Play a 5 card hand that contains only orange cards Common Economy On Scored Golden Ticket.png), and
Lucky Cat (This Joker gains 0.25 every time a orange card green triggers <br> Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Mixed Lucky Cat.png)) benefit from more Tarot Cards that provide their corresponding Enhancement.
The Hook ( Boss The Hook.png)'s discard effect also counts for Purple Seals.
Gold Cards (3 if this card is held in hand at end of round Gold Card.png) can be held in hand at the end of the round for $3, and allow the player to get value out of Purple Seal cards even when out of discards.
Glass Cards (2<br>green chance to destroy card Glass Card.png) can be duplicated easily early game, and then played late game without worry of breaking, because the player already has so many.
Death (Select orange cards, convert the orange card into the orange card<br>gray Available from start. Tarot Death.png) is both created by Purple Seals, and can create more Purple Seals, exponentially increasing the player's ability to deck fix.
Temperance (Gives the total sell value of all current Jokers<br>grey grey Available from start. Tarot Temperance.png) can give at most $50, generating considerable amounts of money even without any economy Jokers if
Gift Card (Add 1 of orange to every orange and orange card at end of round Uncommon Economy N/A (Passive) Gift Card.png) was used.
The Hermit (Doubles money<br> Available from start. Tarot The Hermit.png) can give at most $20, generating less but still significant amounts of money without any economy Jokers, and with less setup.
Wasteful (Permanently gain red discard each round Base Wasteful.png) and
Recyclomancy (Permanently gain an additional red discard each round Discard a total of 2500 cards Upgraded Recyclomancy.png) grant +1 discard each, making it easier to make use of Purple Seals.
Crystal Ball (orange consumable slot Base Crystal Ball.png) increases Consumable slots by 1, allowing for more tarot cards to be created by Purple Seals.
Grabber (Permanently gain blue hand per round Base Grabber.png) and
Nacho Tong (Permanently gain an additional blue hand per round Play a total of 2,500 cards Upgraded Nacho Tong.png) grant +1 hand each, allowing the player to use more throwaway hands to find Purple Seals.
Anti-Synergies
Nebula Deck ( Start run with the voucher <br> red consumable slot Win a run with the Blue on any difficulty Nebula Deck.png) starts with -1 consumable slot, limiting the number of Tarot Cards able to be generated by Purple Seals.
Burglar (When orange is selected, gain blue Hands and orange Uncommon Effect On Blind Select Burglar.png) prevents the player from discarding at all.
Ramen (2, loses 0.01 per orange discarded Uncommon Multiplicative Mult Mixed Ramen.png),
Green Joker (+1 per hand played <br> -1 per discard <br> Common Additive Mult Mixed Green_Joker.png),
Banner (+30 for each remaining orange Common Chips Independent Banner.png) and
Delayed Gratification (Earn 2 per orange if no discards are used by end of the round Common Economy N/A (Passive) Delayed_Gratification.png) disincentivize discarding.
The Water ( Boss The Water.png) starts with 0 discards which means that Purple Seals cannot be used for the round.
- On
Blue Stake and higher, having one less discard can make it harder to find and make use of Purple Seals.
