Red Seal
Retrigger this card 1 time
The Red Seal is a Seal card modifier that retriggers a playing card with this seal once. The Red Seal retriggers both played and held in hand effects. It is incredibly powerful for Jokers that trigger their effects on playing cards, especially XMult effects.
Acquisition
Deja Vu (Add a red to orange selected card in your hand Available from start. Spectral Deja Vu.png) adds a Red Seal to 1 selected card.
Certificate (When round begins, add a random orange with a random orange to your hand Have a Gold playing card with a orange Uncommon Effect N/A (Passive) Certificate.png) can create a random playing card with a Red Seal when the round starts.
- Standard Packs can contain playing cards with Red Seals.
- More cards with Red Seals can be created with the
Death (Select orange cards, convert the orange card into the orange card<br>gray Available from start. Tarot Death.png) Tarot card and
DNA (If orange of round has only orange card, add a permanent copy to deck and draw it to orange Rare Effect On Played DNA.png) if the player already has at least 1 Red Seal card in their deck.
Usage notes
- Jokers that retrigger cards like
Hack (Retrigger each played orange, orange, orange, or orange Uncommon Retrigger On Scored Hack.png),
Mime (Retrigger all card orange abilities Uncommon Retrigger On Held Mime.png), or
Sock and Buskin (Retrigger all played orange cards Play a total of orange face cards Uncommon Retrigger On Scored Sock and Buskin.png) will only reactivate the card 1 additional time, and they will not reactivate the Seal a second time. For example, a played
Red Seal King () will only activate 3 times, once for the initial trigger, once for the Red Seal, and then once more for Sock and Buskin.
- Red Seals work with both played scoring cards and held in hand cards.
- One of the easiest and most consistent ways to reach Balatro's de facto high score, naneinf, is to make as many

Red Seal Steel (1.5 while this card stays in hand Steel Card.png) Kings as possible. This is because with
Baron (Each orange held in hand gives 1.5 Rare Multiplicative Mult On Held Baron.png), a Red Seal on a Steel King essentially acts as 2 Steel Kings without a Red Seal. Because each time Baron triggers exponentially increases the score, the player needs to have hundreds of Baron triggers to reach naneinf. While Red Seals are not needed to achieve naneinf this way, it does make it substantially easier.
- Face Cards are the most versatile cards to have Red Seals on, even if they don't have any Enhancement or Edition. This is because they synergize with
Photograph (First played orange card gives 2 when scored Common Multiplicative Mult On Scored Photograph.png),
Triboulet (Played Kings and Queens each give 2 when scored Find this Joker from the sblue card. Legendary Multiplicative Mult On Scored Triboulet.png),
Baron (Each orange held in hand gives 1.5 Rare Multiplicative Mult On Held Baron.png),
Shoot the Moon (Each orange held in hand gives +13 Play every Heart card in your deck in one round. Common Additive Mult On Held Shoot the Moon.png),
Smiley Face (Played orange cards give +5 when scored Common Additive Mult On Scored Smiley Face.png),
Scary Face (Played orange cards give +30 when scored Common Chips On Scored Scary Face.png),
Reserved Parking (Each orange card held in hand has a green chance to give 1 Common Economy On Held Reserved Parking.png), and
Business Card (Played orange cards have a green chance to give 2 when scored Common Economy On Scored Business_Card.png).
Double or Nothing ( ) starts with all cards with Red Seals.
Synergies
Ghost Deck ( sblue cards may appear in the shop, start with a Hex card Win a run with the Yellow on any difficulty Ghost Deck.png) makes finding the
Deja Vu (Add a red to orange selected card in your hand Available from start. Spectral Deja Vu.png) card significantly easier.
Most Jokers benefit from Red Seals, especially those that trigger when certain cards are played. However, some Jokers benefit more from Red Seals than others, such as:
Baron (Each orange held in hand gives 1.5 Rare Multiplicative Mult On Held Baron.png) will give X2.25 Mult for each Red Seal King held in hand, and ~X5.06 Mult if that King is a
Steel Card (1.5 while this card stays in hand Steel Card.png).
Reserved Parking (Each orange card held in hand has a green chance to give 1 Common Economy On Held Reserved Parking.png) will generally give $0.25 more on average.
- This can change depending on retriggers and held in hand effects, see the Reserved Parking page for an explanation on the specific interactions and numbers.
Bloodstone (green chance for played cards with Heart suit to give 1.5 when scored Have at least orange cards with orange suit in your deck Uncommon Multiplicative Mult On Scored Bloodstone.png),
The Idol (Each played [[Card Ranks|orange]] of [[Card Suits|orange]] gives 2 when scored<br><small>Card changes every round</small> In one hand, earn at least orange chips Uncommon Multiplicative Mult On Scored The Idol.png),
Ancient Joker (Each played card with [[Card Suits|orange]] gives 1.5 when scored, <br> <small>suit changes at end of round</small> Rare Multiplicative Mult On Scored Ancient Joker.png),
Photograph (First played orange card gives 2 when scored Common Multiplicative Mult On Scored Photograph.png), and
Triboulet (Played Kings and Queens each give 2 when scored Find this Joker from the sblue card. Legendary Multiplicative Mult On Scored Triboulet.png) all benefit from Red Seals as they give exponentially more Mult the more times their effects are retriggered.
Hiker (Every played orange permanently gains +5 when scored Uncommon Chips On Scored Hiker.png) can also permanently add an additional +5 Chips, for a total of a permanent +10 Chips for Red Seal cards.
Wee Joker (This Joker gains +8 when each played orange is scored <br> Win a run in orange or fewer rounds Rare Chips Mixed Wee Joker.png) can scale even faster with Red Seal 2 cards and gain +16 Chips, instead of the usual +8 Chips for each scored 2.

Steel Cards (1.5 while this card stays in hand Steel Card.png) with a Red Seal give X2.25 Mult when held in hand.

Gold Cards (3 if this card is held in hand at end of round Gold Card.png) with a Red Seal give $6 if held at the end of the round.
- With a large hand size, copy effects from
Blueprint (Copies ability of orange to the right Win a run Rare Effect Blueprint.png) and/or
Brainstorm (Copies the ability of leftmost orange Discard a Royal Flush. Rare Effect Brainstorm.png), retrigger effects from
Mime (Retrigger all card orange abilities Uncommon Retrigger On Held Mime.png), and Red Seals, it's possible to generate thousands of dollars from this method.

Glass Cards (2<br>green chance to destroy card Glass Card.png) with a Red Seal give X4 Mult when played, and do not increase the chance of breaking.

Polychrome Cards (1.5 Joker (Polychrome).png) with a Red Seal give X2.25 Mult when played.
