$3 if this card is held in hand at end of round
Gold Cards are Enhanced playing cards that give $3 if held in hand at the end of the round. If utilizing Gold Cards, the best way to get the maximum value is to increase hand size. It can also be beneficial to use Jokers that score with cards held in hand, allowing for smaller hands to be played. There are a few ways to get Gold Cards, including:

Synergies

Golden Ticket (Played orange cards earn 4 when scored Play a 5 card hand that contains only orange cards Common Economy On Scored Golden Ticket.png), however, larger hands can actually be better than smaller ones.

Blue Seals (Creates the card for final played orange of round if orange in hand<br>room Blue Seal.png) activate on the same condition as Gold Cards, and can be added to a Gold Card to gain a Planet card and $3 at the end of the round.
Mime (Retrigger all card orange abilities Uncommon Retrigger On Held Mime.png) retriggers the Gold Card's effect. This can be further increased with

Brainstorm (Copies the ability of leftmost orange Discard a Royal Flush. Rare Effect Brainstorm.png).
Golden Ticket (Played orange cards earn 4 when scored Play a 5 card hand that contains only orange cards Common Economy On Scored Golden Ticket.png) awards $4 when a Gold Card is scored. This is especially powerful with retriggers.
Midas Mask (All played orange cards become orange cards when scored Uncommon Effect On Played Midas_Mask.png) allows for up to 12 Gold Cards to be made without any deck fixing, assuming a standard 52 card deck. DNA (If orange of round has only orange card, add a permanent copy to deck and draw it to orange Rare Effect On Played DNA.png), if copied with
Blueprint (Copies ability of orange to the right Win a run Rare Effect Blueprint.png) or
Brainstorm (Copies the ability of leftmost orange Discard a Royal Flush. Rare Effect Brainstorm.png) can net 1 Gold Card to your hand per time it is copied. Bull (+2 for each you have <br> Uncommon Chips Independent Bull.png),
Bootstraps (+2 for every 5 you have <br> Have at least orange edition Jokers at the same time. Uncommon Additive Mult Independent Bootstraps.png), and
Flash Card (This Joker gains +2 per orange in the shop <br> Uncommon Additive Mult Independent Flash Card.png), appreciate the extra money brought in by Gold Cards.
The Serpent ( Boss The Serpent.png) gives +2 hand size per discard and hand if only 1 card is played or discarded.
Anti-Synergies
Five-Card Draw ( ) does not work well with Gold Cards due to the decreased hand size and banning of hand size-increasing Jokers.
Generally, large hands like a Straight or Flush Five are not good with Gold Cards, as you want to have as many Gold Cards in your hand as possible before defeating a Blind. However, if you have a
Golden Ticket (Played orange cards earn 4 when scored Play a 5 card hand that contains only orange cards Common Economy On Scored Golden Ticket.png), large hands can actually be better than small hands.
Ectoplasm () reduces hand size by 1, preventing 1 Gold Card for being held in hand at the end of the round. This only gets worse the more Ectoplasms are used. However, the +1 Joker slot can outweigh the hand size reduction in some cases.
Ouija (Converts all cards in hand to a single random orange<br>red hand size Available from start. Spectral Ouija.png) also permanently reduces hand size by 1, though its upside is significantly less helpful than Ectoplasm's. This Spectral card should be avoided entirely if utilizing Gold Cards.
Merry Andy (red discards each round, <br>red hand size Win a run in orange or fewer rounds Uncommon Effect N/A (Passive) Merry_Andy.png) reduces hand size, and its +3 discards is not very useful unless you only have a few Gold Cards in your deck.
Stuntman (+250,<br>orange hand size Earn at least 100 million (100,000,000) Chips in a single hand. Rare Chips Independent Stuntman.png) is similar to but more severe than
Merry Andy (red discards each round, <br>red hand size Win a run in orange or fewer rounds Uncommon Effect N/A (Passive) Merry_Andy.png) for utilizing Gold Cards.
The Manacle ( Boss The Manacle.png) reduces hand size, therefore allowing fewer Gold Cards to be utilized.
The Hook ( Boss The Hook.png) can discard Gold Cards before scoring, allowing less money to be made.
The Psychic ( Boss The Psychic.png) can be devastating if your score is reliant on held in hand effects.
Usage notes
- If using
Mime (Retrigger all card orange abilities Uncommon Retrigger On Held Mime.png) and a copy Joker (
Blueprint (Copies ability of orange to the right Win a run Rare Effect Blueprint.png) and
Brainstorm (Copies the ability of leftmost orange Discard a Royal Flush. Rare Effect Brainstorm.png),) it is possible to copy your best scoring Joker when playing a hand, and while the hand is scoring, move your copy Joker to copy Mime and get an extra $3 per Gold Card.
