Stone Cards

Stone Card
Effect
+50 Chips
no rank or suit

Stone Cards are Enhanced playing cards that give 50 Chips when scored. Stone Cards are not counted as belonging to any suit or rank and cannot be used to form Poker Hands; however, they always score if included in a played hand. Stone Cards retain their original suit and rank under the enhancement, and it will be returned if their enhancement is changed, and it can also be changed (without revealing it) with Strength, The Moon, The World, The Star, and The Sun. Stone cards can be created a few different ways, including:

  • The Tower adds the Stone enhancement to 1 selected card.
  • Marble Joker creates 1 Stone Card when a Blind is selected.
  • Standard Packs can contain Stone Cards.
  • Illusion allows Stone Cards to appear in the shop.

Synergies

  • High Card should be leveled up if playing a deck that contains only Stone Cards, as playing a hand of 5 Stone Cards will be counted as a High Card hand.

In general, smaller poker hands work better with Stone Cards as they allow more to be played in a given hand, and 5-card hands like Straights and Flushes cannot use Stone Cards unless the player also has the Four Fingers, in which case 1 Stone Card can be used as well.

Seals

  • Gold Seals can be added to give money when a Stone Card is played.
  • Red Seals can be added to double the amount of chips given by a Stone Card.
  • Plasma Deck is the best deck to utilize Stone Cards with, since they contribute significantly more score thanks to this deck's balancing mechanic.
  • Half Joker can combine with the 20 Mult with the 50 Chips of Stone cards to give a lot of score value, but will limit the max number of cards that can be played to 3.
  • Stone Joker scales with each Stone Card added to your deck, giving a large number of Chips even when playing a hand that does not contain any Stone Cards, as long as they exist in your full deck.
  • Four Fingers allows a Stone Card to be scored when playing a Straight, Flush, or Straight Flush. However, leveling up these hands gives a solid amount of chips, so Stone Cards are usually not necessary.
  • Hanging Chad can retrigger a Stone Card 2 additional times, giving 150 Chips. This can be a massive boost in score, especially if your played poker hand is at a low level.
  • Seltzer and Dusk can double the Chips given from each Stone Card. ( Sock and Buskin can do the same if Pareidolia is owned.)
  • The Idol cannot choose a Stone Card when selecting a random card from your deck. Stone Cards can be used in a similar way to other means of deck fixing to make The Idol more likely to land on your desired card.
  • Hiker can be used to continue to increase the value of each Stone Card.
  • When debuffed by The Pillar or Verdant Leaf, Stone Cards still score, but their suits and ranks will not be restored, which means they still cannot make hands or trigger Blackboard / Flower Pot.

Anti-Synergies

The following hands must be made from five cards, and thus the player cannot squeeze in a Stone card to pad out their score:

*Unless holding Four Fingers.

  • Splash does not do anything for Stone Cards, as they share the same effect.
  • Blackboard will not be activated if there are Stone Cards held in hand.

Strategy

Stone Cards are best utilized when playing low scoring poker hands, like High Card or Pair. They can supplement your Chips while your Jokers and hand levels provide Mult. They fall off in scoring potential towards the late game, so they're best used while you look for more Planet cards and scoring Jokers. If playing on the Plasma Deck, Stone Cards have a lot more late game potential. While they will eventually be outpaced by Blind scaling, they can easily win you a run with the right setup.

Usage notes

  • If stone enhancement is removed by Vampire during a hand, the card will not give +50 Chips, while it will always score for this hand (the type of hand played is not affected).
  • Medusa starts with an Eternal Marble Joker and 12 Stone Cards in your deck (all of them replacing Face Cards).

Trivia

  • Due to the lack of basic chips, the "+50 Chips" in the Stone Cards description is actually extra chips. Therefore, chips granted by Hiker will be directly added to it, rather than a separate "extra chips".
