Guide: Completionist++

Obtaining
Completionist++ by earning a Gold Sticker on all 150 Jokers may seem like an extraordinarily daunting task at first, but with time and patience, it is feasible to win a run on
Gold Stake with each Joker.
General Strategy
- Any Joker can be given a Gold Sticker by first purely focusing on building a successful run and then later buying that Joker. In Ante 8, if the player is confident they can win without extra scoring, they can sell any economy Jokers or even unneeded scoring Jokers and buy any Jokers without a Gold Sticker that appear in the shop.
- Because this can only add Gold Stickers to a few Jokers, it is best used for Jokers that cannot score high enough on their own or are otherwise difficult to find or win with.
- Examples include Jokers that cannot receive the Eternal sticker below, early-game Jokers like Abstract Joker, or Jokers that the player may not be comfortable building around, such as Hit the Road.
- When the player has a small amount of Gold Stickers, other strategies like the Anaglyph Deck mentioned below are better.
- Because the nature of finding Jokers in the Shop in Ante 8 is very random, this strategy is not suited to getting Gold Stickers for specific Jokers.
- Because this can only add Gold Stickers to a few Jokers, it is best used for Jokers that cannot score high enough on their own or are otherwise difficult to find or win with.
- Generally, Rare Jokers should be prioritized over Uncommon Jokers, and Uncommon over Common, because of their appearance rates.
- This has exceptions, however, especially for Jokers that cannot receive the Eternal sticker, due to them being harder to hold and often scoring little in the late game.
- It is generally discouraged to take Eternal Jokers that already have a Gold Sticker unless they would be part of the final scoring build even without the Eternal Sticker. This is because they take up a Joker Slot that could have been used for a new Gold Sticker.
- This can make it more difficult to win but increases the number of Gold Stickers the player can earn per win.
Okay, but how do I find Legendary Jokers?
Legendary Jokers are extremely rare. The Soul, which spawns a Legendary Joker, only has a 0.3% chance to replace any Tarot or Spectral card in their respective pack types. This inherently makes the 5 Legendary Jokers the most difficult to earn a Gold Sticker for, despite being extremely powerful, as most players likely see a Soul card only once every dozen or so runs, possibly even less.
In order to maximize the chances of finding the Soul, players likely need to set up economy extremely early so that opening every Tarot or Spectral card pack is feasible without limiting choices in buying other items such as Jokers or Vouchers.
- The Yellow Deck starts the player with a total of $14, making early economy easy to setup as defeating the first blind of the run generates interest.
- Anaglyph Deck allows the player to stockpile on Double Tag, giving multiple opportunities for a Soul to appear once a Charm Tag appears.
- In general, if the Charm Tag appears in Ante 1 or 2, it is usually worthwhile to check for a Soul or other useful Tarots, as restarting the run from that point is not difficult if the Tarot pack contains nothing of value.
- Any Economy Joker will be beneficial to keep buying card packs as needed.
The first Soul card used in a random
Gold Stake seed will give a Legendary Joker that doesn't yet have a Gold Sticker, making it always feasible to earn a new Gold Sticker on a Legendary Joker if one hasn't been acquired yet.
Regarding Jokers incompatible with the Eternal Sticker
The achievement requires that all Jokers obtain the Gold Stickers, and that includes Jokers that can consume themselves. The full list of these Jokers that aren't compatible with the Eternal Sticker can be found below:
| Name | Rarity | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Gros Michel | +15 Mult 1 in 6 chance this is destroyed at the end of round. | |
| Ice Cream | +100 Chips -5 Chips for every hand played | |
| Cavendish | X3 Mult 1 in 1000 chance this card is destroyed at the end of round | |
| Luchador | Sell this card to disable the current Boss Blind | |
| Turtle Bean | +5 hand size, reduces by 1 each round | |
| Diet Cola | Sell this card to create a free Double Tag | |
| Popcorn | +20 Mult -4 Mult per round played | |
| Ramen | X2 Mult, loses X0.01 Mult per card discarded | |
| Seltzer | Retrigger all cards played for the next 10 hands | |
| Mr. Bones | Prevents Death if chips scored are at least 25% of required chips self destructs | |
| Invisible Joker | After 2 rounds, sell this card to Duplicate a random Joker (Currently 0/2) (Removes Negative from copy) |
For these Jokers, a suitable strategy is to build a run, reach Ante 8, and find one of these Jokers in the Shop before defeating the Showdown Blind to win. If a Joker destroys itself before the "You Win!" screen appears, it will not receive the Gold Sticker. Debuffed Jokers (from Crimson Heart or Perishable sticker), however, will still receive the Sticker, and any of the Jokers listed above when debuffed will not be able to self-destruct, making it potentially worthwhile to pick up one such Joker even if it has the Perishable Sticker. While this does leave the player at the whims of what appears in the Shop, it is the most effective and consistent strategy, as obtaining one of these Jokers from Ante 7 or earlier may make it unfeasible for it to survive to the end of the run. In particular, the Jokers to look out for at the latest point possible are:
For the Uncommon Jokers listed above, it is useful to obtain Baseball Card to give them some scoring power while attempting to win the run. This reduces the need to obtain some of them late, although the player should still be careful to not destroy Mr. Bones and Ramen.
Which Deck is Best?
These Decks are the prime winners in Gold Sticker hunting, although any Deck can be used if the player so desires.
- Ghost Deck is the main winner due to starting with a Hex, which can give any weak or otherwise useless Joker some scoring power, on top of easier access to other Spectral cards, which make Deck manipulation easier.
- Anaglyph Deck is the most commonly recommended Deck due to its abundance of Double Tags, which can generate an excessive amount of Negative Tags if it appears, making it much easier to hold onto useless Jokers to the end of the run.
- While the Anaglyph Deck is more unreliable than the Ghost Deck, it is more effective in the beginning of the player's hunt for Gold Stickers as even though the player will often win less on Anaglyph Deck, each win that is obtained will earn more Gold Stickers on average. This strategy dwindles as more Gold Stickers are earned as when the player needs to look for specific Jokers, it becomes more lucrative to switch to Ghost Deck for Spectral cards.
- Easier decks like Yellow Deck, Blue Deck, and Red Deck may make it easier to get a good run going and give more leeway to be greedy for Stickers while still being able to win.
Generally, the best deck is the one most fun for the player, as getting all Stickers will happen eventually, and having fun makes it easier to spend the dozens of hours required for this achievement.
Prepare for Failure
There will be moments of frustration when the run is lost due to the innate difficulty of
Gold Stake, or even winning a run with no new Gold Stickers. While most of the time it is feasible to win, Balatro is often relegated to being a game with randomness that makes it difficult, and this may seem most apparent when hunting for Gold Stickers. In moments like these, it's ideal to step away from the game and take a breather before resuming the hunt so as to reduce stress.
Upon Completion
Due to an oversight in the achievement code, Completionist++ is only checked for upon defeating the Showdown Blind, not the "You Win!" screen, which is when new Stickers are applied. As a result, upon collecting all Gold Stickers, an "encore" run is required for the achievement to be rewarded. The achievement itself is not Stake restricted, so the player simply needs to complete a White Stake run on any non-challenge deck to obtain the achievement.
- The
Completionist+ Achievement behaves in the same manner, requiring an "encore" run after completing all Decks on Gold Stake.
Trivia
- The developer of Balatro, LocalThunk, earned the Completionist++ achievement on June 20th, 2025.[1]
