Guide Community Manager
Hej, I’m Kris Rodriguez and I am the Guide Community Manager at iFixit. In my role I spend a good portion of my time curating community guides, which basically means I check them for accuracy, spam, and flag them for any missing information. Ultimately, guides filter through my queue (and if they’re solid) they make it onto the iFixit site.
I’m also responsible for our department’s data and do everything I can to glean actionable insights in order to: grow our community of fixers, simplify the user journey towards guide-making and translation, and look for little ways to make your overall experience in the community better.

Education
I hold a Master of Science in Mass Communications from San José State University, where I also received my Bachelor of Science in Journalism with a minor in Sociology.
Experience
I have always fixed or made things. So much so that I didn’t think of repair as its own movement until I started working at iFixit. For most of my life, I just assumed everyone tried to fix their stuff before throwing it out or buying new. I’m no expert-fixer, but I do value the things I buy and do everything I can to better understand the consequences of our consumption on the environment.
Favorite Fix
During my time in the army, repair really took a front seat. One of my most memorable (and also my first) large-scale repair was swapping out an engine ''and'' a transmission on my 1151 after we pushed it too far on mission. Just a handful of us were involved and we managed to get it up and running by the next day. It was immensely hard work, but incredibly satisfying to not break down again during the rest of that tour.
More About Me
In addition to iFixit, I’m also a lecturer in writing and mass media research. I live in the California Bay Area with my dog Blu. I have a couple of stable hobbies like reading and writing- but I also like learning new things. So, I dabble in whatever catches my interest.
For the last few years, I've been learning Swedish, doing small-scale metalwork, collecting jazz vinyls, and looking for 80s & 90s pop cassettes.
