Hello! I’m a Junior transfer student at Grand Valley State University, and my major is in Writing. I chose this major because I am passionate about writing, having enjoyed it since I was very young, especially writing creative prose fiction! I also enjoy drawing (especially 2D characters), and I once aspired to be a book illustrator when I was a kid. Nowadays, I aspire to write my own novels (both graphic and prose) and web series, as well as possible visual novel app games! In the meantime, to support myself while pursuing said projects, I am open to a wide variety of editing and/or writing careers. I do not yet have a specific career in mind, but I’m interested in design, editing/proofreading, and technical writing.
I have experience in document design through the projects I made during my previous semester (including a promotional flier, a brochure, and a curatorial booklet), as well as plenty of creative writing, and some editing/proofreading the works of others. I’m not exactly an expert in technology, and I don’t have experience in fixing things, but I’m willing to learn! It would definitely come in handy to be able to repair things when they decide to fail on me. Even though repairing isn’t currently my strong suit, writing manuals for fixing things sounds like it would be more of my forte. Throughout my student career, I have made it onto the honor roll several times in high school, twice at my previous college (Kalamazoo Valley Community College), and so far, once at GVSU.
As for personal hobbies, I enjoy writing stories, drawing characters, hiking, baking treats, reading books (including manga), practicing singing/voice acting alone (I’m still shy about it) while driving (safely!), going on road trips, traveling, taking pictures of nature and beautiful architecture, researching fascinating topics, watching crime documentaries on YouTube, collecting rubber ducks and cool rocks, playing video games, learning new things, etc.
I believe that this school project I will be working on for this site will boost my experience and expand my horizons for possible future careers. It will also look great on my resume! Maybe I’ll even learn a thing or two about fixing things!
Some random fun facts about me:
- I have an eye like a hawk, and can quickly spot the smallest details that the average person cannot (the same goes for my hearing, usually)
- I enjoy online roleplay
- My first pet was a rescued cat named Dooby (I named him when I was two years old), and I grew up with him, seeing him like a big brother (he was a year older than me)
- I have a younger sister named Marie, whom I’ve always shared a close bond with
- My favorite band is Korn, and I also enjoy a wide variety of genres
- I’m a total space geek, and my favorite star is a blue giant named Rigel
- My favorite fighter jet is the SR-71 Blackbird (I love going to the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo to see it!)
- My favorite movie genre is horror
- My favorite manga is Blue Exorcist
- I really love goats, cats, deer, and cuttlefish
- I’m non-binary!
