Einleitung

In the case of a cracked or broken display screen on your ASUS VivoBook X540SA-BPD0602V, a screen replacement may be necessary to restore the laptop to its normal functionality. This guide will walk the user through replacing the device's LCD display screen, through step-by-step instructions. All power sources, including the battery, should be removed before completing any repairs or replacements within the device.

Schritt 1

Power down the laptop using the device's power button in top right corner of the keyboard. Ensure that the device's power cord is disconnected.

Schritt 2

Flip the laptop over so the back panel is displayed.

Schritt 3

Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the ten screws from the back panel.
Remove the two battery screws (15.6 mm)
Two top corner screws (12.5 mm)
Six case screws (9.7mm)

Schritt 4

Flip the laptop back over and open it, revealing the screen and keyboard.

Schritt 5

Using the blue plastic opening tool, wedge and loosen the seal all the way around the edges. Carefully lift up the keyboard panel.
When lifting the keyboard panel, do not lift it all the way as the two connection ribbons to the motherboard must be disconnected.
It is recommended to break the seal of the case starting at the upper corners closest to the display monitor .

Schritt 6

Observe where the ribbons connect to the motherboard, there are two connections. Each connection has a black clamp. To remove the ribbon, lift the black clamp up to disconnect it.

Schritt 7

Very carefully, remove the batteries with the blue plastic iFixit opening tool. Focus removing the battery near the highlighted area.
The batteries should all be connected to one another and come out of the device as a single unit.
Be careful not to rip any of the black plastic covering the batteries. Exposed battery parts can lead to explosions. If the case is ripped, re-wrap them, or properly dispose of them. Do not reuse them.

Schritt 8

Use tweezers to remove small plastic screw covers from the bottom corners of the screen.

Schritt 9

Using the Phillips #0 screwdriver, remove the screws (3.8mm) from the bottom corners of the screen.

Schritt 10

Gently go around the screen and pry the plastic frame away with the metal spudger.
Before disconnecting the bottom edge of the plastic frame, be sure to disconnect it from the laptop's hinges.
Be careful with the metal spudger in this process--it is easy to cause damage to the device with this tool.

Schritt 11

Remove screws (3.5mm) from the four corners of the screen, utilizing Phillips #0 screwdriver.

Schritt 12

Gently pull the display away from where it is seated in the device.
Note that there is a connection to the motherboard at the bottom of the display. Take care not to pull too hard on this connection when removing the display.

Schritt 13

Rotate the display to expose the motherboard connection at the bottom of the display, and disconnect.
There may be tape supporting the connection which must be removed first if present.
